Ẹ̀rìndílógún | Set of Two Pouches

Within the Ẹ̀rìndílógún divination, cowries are not a simple divinatory tool but sacred objects with their own life and agency, carrying and transmitting a millennia’s worth of Yorùbá knowledge.

Regarded as a sacred altar, the cowries are kept by the babalórìṣà or ìyálórìṣà with the utmost care and respect. To protect and preserve their spiritual integrity, this set includes two dedicated pouches.

The first pouch, named Ẹ̀RÌNDÍLÓGÚN, is intended to hold the sixteen consecrated cowries used during spiritual consultation.

The second pouch is reserved for the five additional cowries known as ADELÉ. These were consecrated with the same àṣẹ during the ritual preparation of the complete set of twenty-one cowries.

Should one of the sixteen active cowries be lost or damaged, it may be replaced with an Adelé cowrie, ensuring the continuity of the divination set while preserving its ritual integrity.
